FACETED, GRADUATED STRAND OF NATURAL AMBER

Graduated from 12 mm in the front to 8 mm, natural amber, nicely faceted, the NECKLACE is 23 1/2 inches.  The original amber barrel clasp was damaged and has been replaced with a vermeil (gold plating over sterling silver) easy to fasten hook; and at the same time the strand was freshly restrung and knotted between beads.   Vintage estate jewelry in excellent condition.  Approximate retail replacement $400 -$700.

RUBY GRADUATED BEAD STRAND

Wonderful, rich red natural RUBY BEADS, graduated in size from 10 mm to 4.5 mm.   Strung the Indian way just the way it came from the gemstone dealer.  The knot on the cord allows the length to be adjusted.  These beads will need to  be re-strung with knots between.  Sparkles has one like this and she had it restrung but kept the adjustable cord.  The alternative is to be finished in the American style, at a specific length and with a clasp.  Sparkles includes restringing and knotting in the sale price, clasp is extra.  Estimated retail replacement $700+.

JADEITE - SEMI TRANSLUCENT PENDANT EARRINGS

14K yellow gold and (natural mineral) Jadeite.  The drops have been fashioned in a flattened form to enhance the translucence, a  very desirable attribute in jade.  Nice color and well matched, the drops dangle from a 'character' (probably Luck) and a small button style surmount.  Total length is 1 3/4 inches.  Vintage fine estate jewelry, excellent condition. AMETHYST PENDANT & BEAD STATION NECKLACE

Large faceted natural amethyst collect set in a frame of tiny grape leaves.  The frame is pierced, domed and hides the tongue clasp.  Six natural amethyst, faced beads space the neck chain, which is pressed links in a Deco shape & hand wired to the beads.   Lovely piece of vintage jewelry, circa 1910-20, from the estate of a Wall Street banker.  Length is 16 1/4 inches, center is 1 16 inches wide.  Metal is unknown, perhaps chromium.

FLOWERS IN HER HAIR, BEAUTY EVERYWHERE

Finely carved shell cameo in a handwork filigree white metal frame.   The quality of carving is very good and there is good detail and use of color in the hair and dress.  Very pretty well proportioned face.  I believe the white metal is gold filled; the clasp has been changed and is a circa 1910 lever type, leading me to believe that this brooch was made prior to that date.  Antique fine estate jewelry, excellent condition, 1 3/4 x 1 3/8 inches.

EXQUISITE PLIQUE A JOUR -  18K & DIAMOND 

Plique A Jour is glass enameling that fills  spaces between  metal outlines in  a design.  Unlike other enameling techniques, there is no backing to the glass enamel, leaving it open to create an appearance of stained glass.  An old technique from Renaissance 15th century, it became popular  soon after 1900 and was used to great advantage in some Art Nouveau jewelry.  Little of it from that era has survived.  This fantastic Plique a Jour  dragonfly Brooch/Pendant is a contemporary piece, made in Barcelona, Spain, by the original family of artisans from designs of the early 1900s.  The color in the wings is excellent and you can see from the back that it is indeed open "like a stained glass window", and that the wings are curved  as if in  natural flight  The head and tail are enameled on white gold in a light aqua, with diamond pave' on the head and body.  Wings, and legs are 18K yellow gold.  A small ring has been affixed to the underside of the tip of one wing   so that this can be worn as a pendant.  NEW, contemporary jewelry BROOCH original Art Nouveau design, wingspan is almost 3", body length is 1 3/4",  and amazingly sturdy.    For close up examination, I offer a two times enlargement.
