AMETHYST, STERLING, MARCASITE BRACELET

Shield shape links, pierced through, "cut steel stud" texture set with marcasites for sparkle and glamour. Nine medium size amethysts gemstones set in high mounting gives the bracelet a "chunky" look. 7 1/4 inches long x 1/2 inch wide x about 3/8 inches thick.

SHELL CAMEO EN HABILLE, 14K

En Habille, which describes the applied white gold and diamond necklace, makes this a somewhat unusual shell cameo. Also unusual for the era is the hair style, which is similar to the ponytail but is not a common hair arrangement for 1910-20. You can see the detail of the comb which holds the hair and the long, dangling earrings she wears. Pleasant facial expression, well executed. Set in 14K yellow gold with a twist bezel frame. Can be worn as a BROOCH or a PENDANT, 1 1/4 inches, vintage estate jewelry.

MOURNING BAR BROOCH

Elegant matte black BROOCH is incised with eight vertical lines which fold over the edges. In the center are three recessed dots. 14K yellow gold, marked on the back. Simple C clasp, 1 3/4 inches x 5/16 and about 1/4 inch thick. Hand carved, thought to be natural onyx. Fine estate jewelry in excellent condition.

14K SHELL CAMEO

Circa 1925 - 1938 hand carved shell cameo. The BROOCH has a hinged bail and easily converts to a pendant. Extremely pleasant face, quite contemporary in style with turned up nose. What strikes me about this cameo is that the artist conveys fine detail with a minimum of carving, especially in the facial area of the eye, nose, mouth & chin. Amazingly, you can even see the little ridge around the nostril. 14K yellow gold (marked 585) frame, 1 1/4 inches, vintage estate jewelry in excellent condition.

SPLENDID DETAIL MOURNING BROOCH/CHATELETTE

As mourning brooches go, this one is Tops. The thick, long rectangular slab of onyx is rounded on both ends and is scooped out through the center. The motif is a 14K yellow gold single stem from which appears to hang eleven, (real) half pearl buds or flowers. A single leaf begins its thrust toward the stem and then folds back on itself and is decorated with tiny half pearls. The back of the leaf and the three tiny stems are hand finished with a linear florentine texture, and a shiny gold "ribbon" gives the appearance of attaching to the onyx. The back of the BROOCH is 14K yellow gold with a tube hinge, and a covered "c" clasp. There is a hook for use as a chatelette to hang something. Beautiful workmanship, entirely hand made. Victorian 1880-1990, in excellent +++ condition.

1.75 CARATS, DIAMOND RING

Textured 14K yellow gold cast in a branching pattern reminiscent of coral of the sea, is set with a 0.82 carat VS-1 K-M round brilliant diamond and a 0.60 carat VVS-2 I-K round brilliant diamond, and ten 0.03-0.04 carat round full cut diamonds. The style flatters any finger and the diamond sizes are impressive. The top is approximately 3/4 inches both directions. Total diamond weight is 1 3/4 carats. 14K WHITE GOLD ART DECO FILIGREE RING, OVER 1/2 CARAT, SIZE SMALL

14K white gold, vintage filigree ring CIRCA 1920. Excellent condition, set with a single diamond, Old European cut, very sparkly and white. The ring size is 3.5. It appears that the shank had previously been sized smaller, so the ring can probably be sized larger, one or two sizes or perhaps 3. Estimated retail replacement $1960.00.

AKOYA CULTURED PEARL NECKLACE ~ FINE QUALITY

Graduated Japanese Akoya 18 inch cultured pearl strand; the pearls range from 7 mm to 3 mm, with a 14K white gold filigree fishhook clasp. This is an old strand circa 1950 from the days of excellent quality. The pearls are round, perfectly matched in color, high luster, and basically free of blemishes, quality is rated as Fine-Very Fine.  Estimated retail replacement $1,450.  The cord is clean and in good condition .. the pearls were probably never worn. If you prefer the more contemporary look of knotting between the pearls, Sparkles will be happy to have that done for you, for an additional $30. Select the new length at 18 or 19 inches.

FRESHWATER CULTURED PEARL STRAND, BIG 9-10 MM

Eighteen inch strand of Chinese freshwater pearls, fastened with a 14K yellow gold filigree fish hook clasp.   These are large "statement" pearls, and while not actually round, they give the impression of being round. The color is well matched with nice luster and there is only very moderate spotting and minor blemishes. Knotted between pearls, the cord is good condition and clean. It appears this artist, of the Santa Domingo tribe, has a shop in Albuquerque Old Town, and his work is sold in Sedona & Santa Fe as well.
