Most ivories on these pages will be elephant or mammoth. All of the elephant ivory is vintage and acquired through estates and individuals and was legally imported in years past. Mammoth ivory may be vintage or contemporary and comes from the Wooly Mammoth that roamed the northern hemisphere between 2 million and 10,000 years ago. Other ivories will be identified when their source is known. |

VINTAGE ALASKAN IVORY & NATURAL GOLD NUGGET From yesteryear, native art carved in Alaska as evidenced by the
use of the tiny natural gold nugget. The pin is 1 3/8
inches. The pin fastening is attached with glue and is
secure. Vintage estate jewelry, ivory, in excellent

VINTAGE IVORY SCRIMSHAW CUFFLINKS A matching pair of tall ships have been scrimshawed in black into the 1
1/8 inch ivory. Vintage ivory, undoubtedly from Alaska, it is tooth
or tusk, probably Walrus. Vintage costume jewelry in like new
excellent condition., with gold tone toggles.

VINTAGE IVORY LOTUS NECKLACE Vintage elephant ivory beads are carved Lotus blossoms measuring about
5/8 inch x 3/8 inch, with a total length of 21 inches including the
ivory screw type clasp. Clean and pretty, estate
jewelry in like new never worn condition.

SOLD! 0810.. GOLD WOUND SPIRAL HALF HOOP IVORY EARRINGS Vintage elephant ivory, circa 1970. The ivory has been carved in
a spiral pattern and wound with 14K (marked) ribbon in the
channels. The post and clip are gold tone base metal. Size is
1 1/8 high and about 1/2 inch wide at the
center. Schraeger lines and crosshatching clearly seen on the
side. Vintate estate jewelry, looking new, they were probably
never worn and are in excellent condition

SOLD! 0810.. CARVED ROSE PENDANT NECKLACE, IVORY Vintage elephant ivory, circa 1970s. Beautifully carved, the rose
is suspended from a 23 inch, 3 mm ivory bead necklace. Shraeger
lines visible on the back side. Vintage estate
jewelry, excellent condition looks new and was probably

GRADUATED ROUND BEADS, VINTAGE IVORY NECKLACE Eighteen inch strand of vintage ivory beads, graduated from 14.5 mm to
4.5 mm. Probably never worn as they are just as fresh as they were
when purchased in the 1970s. Schraeger lines and crosshatching
visible on many beads and will become more apparent as ivory acquires
patina. Vintage elephant ivory, estate jewelry in pristine condition.

SOLD! 0810.. VINTAGE IVORY BRACELET MASSIVE ivory like this BRACELET seldom comes back into the
seondary market any more. This one is a beauty and what's more
it is in pristine condition and was probably never worn. Oval in
shape and clamper style, it closes on the top and is hinged on the
bottom. The carved design is a simple, bold one of flower and
leaves. 2 1/2 inches across the center, it will fit an average
wrist. It is 1 1/8 inch wide and the ivory is thick ... at 1/2
inch or better. In like new excellent condition, vintage
elephant ivory rom the 1970s. Plenty of Schraeger lines and
crosshatching both inside and outside; this will be a beauty as it
acquires patina. Estimated retail replacement

purchased in the 1970s and probably never worn. Great strand

SOLD! 0810.. CARVED ROSE IVORY EARRINGS Nicely carved roses with a tracing of pink on the edges. Circa
1930s, vintage elephant ivory, about 1/2 inch in diameter. 800
silver screw backs. Yes, I might be able to convert these to gold
filled piercedp ost, ask me.

VINTAGE IVORY BAR PIN The outer frame is nicely pierced on its inside edge and the flowers
are intricately carved and have good dimension. Vintage
elephant ivory, probably carved in asia, in very good
condition. The length is 3 inches, with a locking c clasp,
indicating circa 1930-40.

VINTAGE FLOWING & FLATTERING IVORY NECKLACE The five flowing links in the front of the NECKLACE are
carefully cut and fitted to flatter. Altogether they measure 4
1/2 inches. The beads are graduated from 5mm to 4.5 mm.
Total length is 18 inches, width at the front is 7/8 inch.
Vintage ivory from the 1970s, estate jewelry in like new
condition. The telltale Schraeger (growth) lines
are clearly evident in areas of the ivory. Estimated replacement
value $450. |

EXCEPTIONAL, LARGE IVORY BEAD NECKLACE Fifteen inches of very large, 16 mm round vintage elephant ivory
beads. Schraeger lines and cross hatching are seen on most of the
beads. Although these beads are fifty years old, they were never
worn. They will acquire a mellowness of color as they are worn,
becoming prettier by the year. These were purchased in Africa by the
original owner's husband. While they are round, there is a bit of
heaviness toward one end which I believe is an indication that they were
worked on a hand lathe. Beads smaller than these were selling in
Alaska when I was there in 2003 for over $1500. Because these were
strung "in the bush" rather than for a nice retail outlet, I
would suggest restringing with knots between the beads and a nicer
clasp. Stringing with knots will add about an inch in
length. You can have a jeweler do this or I can have it done for you
at an approximate cost of $45. |

SOLD! 0810.. VINTAGE IVORY TAPERED HALF HOOPS 14k Exceptional, lovely pair of earrings, there are four
carved channels with thick, sturdy 14K gold strip nestled in
each. 1/14 inches, 11/16 wide at the bottom, pierced post
EARRINGS. Vintage estate jewelry, these are top quality ivory
and workmanship, the best I've ever had on the site.

GRADUATED IVORY BEAD STRAND NECKLACE Lovely strand, not many seen with these size beads, which graduate from
5 mm to 12 mm. Necklace length is 23-24 inches. The beads are
in excellent condition with no discoloration or loss of polish on the
beads at the nape of the neck, looks to be in like new

SOLD! 0810.. VINTAGE IVORY ROSE WITH JADE LEAVES Unsigned, possibly Swoboda, the vintage elephont ivory, hand carved
rose rises just over 1/2 inch and is surrounded by carved Nephrite Jade
leaves. All are set on gold tone metal. The BROOCH
is about 1 3/4 inches, vintage costume jewelry in like new excellent
condition. |

GOLD FILLED BROOCH, CARVED IVORY ROSE Frosty gold tone leaves and a single, hand carved ivory rose framed in
a circle of twisted square wire. Vintage jewelry, marked
KL, gold filled, about 1 1/2 inch, in like new excellent condition.

IVORY BILLIKEN COUPLE CHARM EARRINGS Too sweet, it is a "couple" ... him with his squinty eyed, happy
smile, her batting her long, black eyelashes. About 1 1/8 inch
long, including the earring surmount. This is vintage ivory,
scrimshawed in black and set with natural gold nugget flake for a
belly button. Although originated elsewhere, the Billiken was
adopted in Alaska as a figurine almost a hundred years
ago. Wear as earrings, or they are suitable as a charm for your
bracelet (ask me to join them both to a single gold jump
ring). |

VINTAGE CHINESE SCRIMSHAW IVORY EARRINGS, Circa 1930s. Elephant Ivory plaques are scrimshawed pictoral, with light tinting, of
a strolling woman. The frame is woven silver (thought to be silver
but perhaps not 925). Screw back EARRINGS, about 5/8
inch. Quality hand woven silver work.

SCRIMSHAW MAMMOTH IVORY PENDANT - VINTAGE Fetching floral, color scrimshaw, on Mammoth Ivory pendant, suspended
from an 18 inch gold filled chain. The pendant is 1 3/8
inches, and the ivory shows the ivory growth lines both back and
front. Estate jewelry in like new condition.

Color ranges from white to cream in the new state and acquires patina as it ages. The workmanship & beauty of these lovely pieces deserve to be appreciated beyond their origin. The Mammoth Ivory is 10,000 - 40,000 years old and is being carved for current market principally in Indonesia & China. Sources for Mammoth Ivory are limited and come from Canada, Alaska & and Russia. Color ranges from off white to warm mocha and pieces may exhibit several tones. The backs of some pieces may show interesting green, brown & black color where the tusk was exposed to the surrounding soils.
