Most ivories on these pages will be elephant or mammoth. All of the elephant ivory is vintage and acquired through estates and individuals and was legally imported in years past. Mammoth ivory may be vintage or contemporary and comes from the Wooly Mammoth that roamed the northern hemisphere between 2 million and 10,000 years ago. Other ivories will be identified when their source is known. |

SOMETHING DIFFERENT! CHEVRON CARVED IVORY EARRINGS Half hoop ivory EARRINGS are carved in a chevron pattern rather than
the usual spiral pattern. In addition they are graduated in size,
narrowing a bit at the top end and rounding at the bottom end. A
lovely pair of vintage elephant ivory earrings, circa 1970s, exhibiting
plainly the hallmark Schraeger lines. Still clean and nice, probably
little worn, excellent condition.

VINTAGE IVORY ASIAN MAN CUFF LINKS Very nicely hand carved ivory images, the black detail is
scrimshaw. Circa 1940-50, the toggles are Sterling Silver
(marked). The vintage ivory is creamy & clearly showing
Schraeger lines, the identifying marks of natural ivory. In
excellent, clean condition. |

opener is 7 inches long and in like new

SOLD! 0611 ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS OLD IVORY BROOCH A large and old, circa 1930s, BROOCH, deeply and exquisitely hand
carved. It is 2 3/8 inches x 1 3/4 inches and about 5/8
inch thick. The trombone clasp on the reverse indicates an early
age, perhaps the 1920-30s. It's in beautiful condition, has
acquired some mellowness of tone and at the top, outer edges of petals is
showing almost a transparency. Schraeger lines are seen
throughout. Vintage elephant ivory.

SOLD! 0611 VINTAGE IVORY PENDANT OR ART OBJECT Wonderfully detailed carving, front and back, on this 2 inch
masterpiece. His tie is set with ruby, sapphire and emerald
gemstones in 14K gold. The glasses and bail are also 14K
(marked). This piece can stand alone as an Art Object, or be worn as
a pendant. Right now it is suspended from a 24 inch, 2
mm, gold tone (not gold) rope chain. Vintage estate jewelry,
vintage ivory in like new, never worn condition. Sparklz will
be happy to help you with a similar chain in karat gold in any
length, if desired. |

LARGE SIZE ~ HANDCARVED DRAGON BRACELET, VINTAGE IVORY Oval bracelet, deep rope spirals and nice detail in the dragons'
heads. Larger than usual, it measures 2 3/4 inches across the
oval. Width is 7/16 inch (11mm); wall
thickness is 5.5/16th (9 mm). This is an old one, very clean,
excellent condition, and has acquired a comfortable mellow patina,
allowing the Schraeger lines (crosshatching) to be seen

VINTAGE ELEPHANT IVORY BANGLE BRACELET This bangle bracelet has acquired a little age and mellowness,
enhancing wonderfully the many areas where the criss-cross and Schraeger
growth lines are in evidence. It will continue to acquire this
character with time and wearing. 2 5/8 inches across, it
will fit an average to slightly larger wrist.
The width/wall is 3/8 inches. Vintage estate jewelry,

SOLD! 1211 MAMMOTH IVORY LINK BRACELET Each of the 1 inch x 5/8 inch oval links is curved across the face
and flat on the back. They are joined by 5 mm beads and are
strung on elastic. Quality BRACELET, the elastic knots are
tucked into a cavity in the back of one link. Will fit an average
wrist. Contemporary jewelry made from long extinct Ice Age
Wooly Mammoth, it has the lovely, warm beigy-ness common to that
material. Like new excellent condition. Estimated

VINTAGE ELEPHANT IVORY KNOT EARRINGS Carved in a knot motif, with a left and a right earring, these vintage
elephant ivory EARRINGS are pierced post. They measure 1 1/4
inches. Like new, excellent condition, probably never worn,
circa 1970s. |

inches. Ivory growth lines are seen on the backs of the

INTRICATELY HAND CARVED VINTAGE IVORY PENDANT Lovely, old vintage, elephant ivory 2 inch, pierced
pendant. The many details include a house or temple on the top, and
down the steps are two men bowing to each other and a man on a horse
on the second level, and the bottom level features a boatman with oar on a
tiny junk. Vintage ivory, the typical crosshatching Schraeger
lines are clearly seen on the back. In excellent, like
new condition, it is suspended from a gold tone 24 inch
chain. |

VINTAGE IVORY HAND CARVED ORCHID EARRINGS ~ 14K Circa 1940s, hand carved ivory EARRINGS. Originally on sterling
screw backs, they have been converted to 14K yellow gold posts and
nuts. 1 inch, vintage estate jewelry in very good
condition. |

VINTAGE IVORY GRADUATED BEAD NECKLACE Twenty inch strand of graduated vintage ivory beads. The beads
are graduated from 11.5 mm to 9 mm. This strand was worn and enjoyed
and in the process acquired a good bit of character. There are notes
of warmth in the coloring, and the cross hatching Schraeger lines are very
visible in many beads. The original barrel clasp has been replaced
with an easy to use, vermeil (gold plating on sterling) hook
clasp. The strand is freshly restrung by hand with double knots.

A WORD ABOUT IVORIES ON THIS WEBSITE ~~~ All of the elephant ivory, walrus ivory, and other ivory, except Wooly Mammoth fossil Ivory, is Vintage to Antique, was artfully hand carved before the bans, and is pre-owned and is acquired on a piece by piece basis from individuals and estates. Color ranges from white to cream in the new state and acquires patina as it ages. The workmanship & beauty of these lovely pieces deserve to be appreciated beyond their origin. The Mammoth Ivory is 10,000 - 40,000 years old and is being carved for current market principally in Indonesia & China. Sources for Mammoth Ivory are limited and come from Canada, Alaska & and Russia. Color ranges from off white to warm mocha and pieces may exhibit several tones. The backs of some pieces may show interesting green, brown & black color where the tusk was exposed to the surrounding soils.
