Most ivories on these pages will be elephant or mammoth.   All of the elephant ivory is vintage and acquired through estates and individuals and was legally imported in years past.  Mammoth ivory may be vintage or contemporary and comes from the Wooly Mammoth that roamed the northern hemisphere between 2 million and 10,000 years ago.  Other ivories will be identified when their source is known.

STUNNING IVORY PLUMERIA BROOCH

About 1 5/8 inches, vintage ivory BROOCH, probably circa 1960-70 from Hawaii, very nicely carved.   The distinctive ivory schraeger lines can be seen both front & back.   Probably never worn.  It will  acquire a desirable mellow patina with handling & wear.

!!!VERY LARGE SIZE ~ IVORY BANGLE BRACELET

Oval shape and 3 1/8 inches across the inside center.   This should fit an 8 1/4 - 8 3/4 inch wrist, depending upon the wrist shape.   The hand must also be large enough that it won't slip off.  Mellow ivory color, showing plenty of typical Schraeger growth lines,  7/8 inch wide, 4 mm thick wall.    Vintage estate jewelry in excellent condition.

UNUSUALLY LARGE CARVED IVORY FACE

I have no idea what this  face represents, perhaps one of the Gods,  but it is very old as evidenced by the sliding trombone latching clasp and is probably early 20th century.   It's large, 2 1/4 inches, deeply carved, with light red tinting in the mouth and at the edges of the eyeballs, some brown tinting  in the crevices to give depth, and black embedded in the engraved facial hair.    A thoroughly frightening fellow, but a wonderful find if you collect ivory or art objects.    The clasp is held by two tiny screws and the back side shows a several marks.   Antique estate jewelry in absolutely excellent condition.

Elegant and simple, plaque top, vintage elephant ivory RING.   The top measures 5/16 inch x about 3/4 inch and shows finely grained Schraeger lines.   Approximate ring size is 7 1/2, excellent condition appears to have been never worn.

Three, hand carved Lotus flowers, embellished with a 4 mm ivory bead, dangle enticingly from a silver tone clip EARRING with button style ivory surmount.  VINTAGE elephant ivory, beautiful detail,  in like new condition, circa 1950,  the flowers cluster together at the same length when worn.  Length, including the surmount is about 1 1/2 inches.

IVORY NAPKIN RINGS with SCRIMSHAW DRAGONS
