 CARVED IVORY DRAGON BRACELET

One of the nicest carvings of a dragon ever, the design is clearly discernible.  2 1/2 inches across and 5/8 inches wide.   There is a small chip at the edge, an accident during carving, I believe. This picture shows that it is unseen when viewed directly on (top), a small v shape is seen as the bracelet is tilted, and the final picture shows it from the inside. Excellent quality vintage estate jewelry, elephant ivory.

INCREDIBLE, TRUE ART, CARVING  WITH A SURPRISE

Each rectangular, thick plaque of old elephant ivory (guaranteed)  is carved in great detail, with figures, building, foliage in high relief, and piercing and under carving where appropriate.  This hasn't been cleaned and to see the wonderful detail you must look at the 3X  enlargement , which will be slow loading but worth the wait.  BRACELET is 7 1/4 inches x 1 1/4 inches x 5/16 inches thick & the six plaques are set in silver tone metal marked 'Silver China'.  This kind of carving is no longer seen and I believe the bracelet to be circa 1920-30.   The surprise?  These were carved, on the reverse side, from pieces of a fairly crudely 'home made' Domino set, no telling how old those were at the time they were carved.  Be sure to click on the thumbnail picture at left to see the back side.  Antique estate jewelry.  Replacement would be impossible, but I would guess that an insurance appraisal by an appraiser familiar with Orientalia might be $1,500 - $2500.

1930s HAND CARVED IVORY & MARCASITE

Made in Germany in the 1930s, the ivory is beautifully hand carved in a frilly petaled rose.  Sterling silver, the leaves are set with sparkling marcasites, in the eternally charming way of high quality materials and workmanship.   The leaf stem is fastened to the ivory with a tiny screw and is marked Sterling Silver Germany with a block "M" in a box.   Fine estate jewelry in excellent condition, 1 1/2 inches.

This necklace was produced by Les Bernard, a name well known in the costume jewelry world.  The carved center is a single large piece 3 1/2 inches across with an applied silver tone center section (thought to be chrome).   The large beads are 8 mm.  The necklace is about 16 inches long and is in like new excellent condition.   I would guess the era to be the 1970s.   Vintage estate jewelry.
