DAVID KUO ENAMELED CHAMPLEVE NECKLACE

Research doesn't reveal much about the artisan who designed and produced this gorgeous  NECKLACE.   It is signed D. Kuo and Champleve in hand written script on the cobalt blue enamel back.   Another seller seems to believe that his work was sold at Nieman Marcus.  What I do know is that the design, execution and color palette are all excellent and the  workmanship is superior.  The beautiful choice of colors is further enhanced by the use of small sections of transparent, colored enamels over foil.   The pieces I have acquired were purchased in 1988 and and one of them is marked China Cloisonne Co. ~ Beverly Hills, though the receipt for another piece is from a store in Evanston, Ill.    The clasp is about 1 7/8 inches with  four strands of beads;   8 mm round, shell; light green Adventure (natural mineral) nuggets; 6 mm light pink Rose Quartz (natural mineral); and light lavender Amethyst nuggets (natural mineral).   About 18 inches long.Vintage costume jewelry in excellent condition.   The receipt shows that inn today's dollars the cost of the necklace was $540.

FINE DESIGN QUALITY BRACELET

My idea of costume jewelry perfection, each  link is an overlapping shallow bowl with florentine finish which rises to the edges where rhinestones are set in silver tone overlapping crescents.    No signature but undoubtedly made by a quality manufacturer.   No linkage is seen and the design flows smoothly around the wrist.   Vintage costume jewelry, probably circa 1960s, 7 inches long x 7/16 inch wide.

SAPPHIRE BROOCH ~ an Attractive Oddity

Real sapphires and a great looking large brooch.   Let me tell you what is odd.   In the jewelry world real gemstones are generally set in either gold or silver, depending on the value of the stones.   These sapphires, along with three small emeralds and two light pink sapphires, are set in gold plated base metal.   I've heard that pieces of jewelry such as these were sometimes used as gifts from casinos, etc.      Undoubtedly the sapphires, which are  a dark, commercial quality were probably incredibly inexpensive at that time.   In today's market these would have more value and would be used individually in lower quality rings and earrings to maximize their usefulness.   Probably circa 1960, the well made, hand soldered BROOCH, is 2 1/1 inches, slightly domed,  and glitters darkly.   Where else will you find twenty-nine sapphire of nice size in one piece for this kind of price?

GLORIOUS GLITZ BRACELET

Row and rows of rhinestones, the double line of very large emerald cut rhinestones give this a classic 1950s look.  1 inch wide, 7 3/4 inches long, very flexible, the links curve gently downward in he middle and the emeralds are raised.   All are prong set in hand soldered silver tone.   230 small round rhinestones and 44 large,  providing around the wrist sparkle for a special occasion.    Vintage costume jewelry in excellent condition.

FRUIT & FUN CZECH STYLE NECKLACE

DAZZLING marriage of bits and pieces.   It appears that the original necklace is the pale green beads, the lemon fruit, the rust color fruit and the green leaves.   To that was added the white bell flowers and the dark red  bells, also old but probably from another necklace.  Later, someone filled in with new fruit which includes the large orange passion fruit, the strawberry, the cherry, the grape cluster and the bananas.  It's adorable.  It's a great shape and will be much admired.   Vintage costume jewelry in very good condition.

1930s-40s RETRO STERLING BUG CLIP

The golden glow of gilding on sterling, specific to jewelry of that time period.  The retro style wings, solid underneath and pierced on the top, fold flowingly back over themselves.   The body and the head are light amethyst color, faceted glass.   Clip,  2 1/4 inches wide, the gilding has dimmed considerably on the tops of the wings so that the silvery sterling is showing.  Vintage costume jewelry in good condition.
Price:$78.00     Condition: As described     BL      Order Item# U/R31113

WONDERFUL ENAMEL WHIMSY BROOCH

Sterling, from Siam, this is undoubtedly the most interesting of the enamel brooches I've seen.  The elephants and their handlers are engaging in some sort of competitive sport.  Sticks are held forward and more sticks are at the ready near the rear.   Look closely and you will see a blue monkey on the rump of the white elephant and an orange monkey on the rump of the green elephant.   Wonderful detail, including bracelets on ankles of the elephants.   Vintage estate jewelry in very good condition; there is a small chip in the enamel on the upper part of the snout of the white elephant.  About 2 inches wide.
