ART DECO JADEITE AND ENAMEL NECKLACE, CIRCA 1920-30

Superb NECKLACE in truly excellent condition.  The 40mm x 20 mm rectangular pendant is a pleasant, evenly color green jadeite, carved and pierced in floral design with a very Deco style 14K bail attaching to a 17 mm round carved and pierced Jadeite, prong set on a 14K yellow gold frame. The Deco checkerboard side pieces are glass enamel on gold.  The chain is 14K yellow gold spaced with 5 mm jadeite beads on each side.  The jade is natural and undyed.  Original clasp apparently abandoned in favor of an easier to manipulate hook and eye, silver tone base metal.   Total length is 18 inches; the medallion and pendant fall 2 1/2 inches from the chain attachments.  An appraisal dated April 1987 indicates a retail appraisal at that time of $1675.    (Good gosh, $1675 adjusted for inflation is a shocking $3439.)  Appraisal criteria has adjusted since then, and Sparklz estimates current replacement value at  $2400 +.

SOME OF THE MOST INTERESTING JEWELRY IS THAT ....

...which has been married together in bits and pieces.  This charming bracelet is an interesting mix, most probably with interesting stories if we only knew them.  The jump ring is gold filled.  On each side of it is a Victorian style square fitting believed to be gold filled.  The double chain itself appears to be base metal.   To the right of the clasp is a charm, set with clear & red glass stones, which looks like a locket or pocket watch but does not open.  It appears to be gold plated and is fixed in place.  To the right of that one is a filigree imitating a seal.  To the left of the clasp is an opening piece with an en cameo Roman figure.  While it opens, there is no place for a picture, though it may have been meant to hold a lock of hair.  To the left of it is an oval, engraved locket with area for pictures, and it is believed to be gold filled.  The final piece, the textured square at the top, is a former slide, and it is fixed in position.   Several tests indicate it to be 10K.   This bracelet measures 8 inches and will fit a slightly larger wrist, or some links could be removed to make it smaller.   The charms tend to slide together when worn.  These could be fixed  in place as well. or perhaps added to another existing bracelet.  Antique pieces, probably from near the Victorian era.
